Tanya Shymko Born in 1983 in Kyiv. For as long as I can remember, I have always drawn, as a considerable stack of childhood sketchbooks attests. In grades 5–7 of secondary school I attended a «Petrykivka painting» club, which undoubtedly influenced the style of my work: a love of so-called «shading» and of countless small details. That, in fact, was my «classical art» education; after that (and still now) my education has come from books, museums, exhibitions, the Internet and contact with creative people. In 2005 I graduated with honours from the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design, with lecture notes covered in painted flowers and a clear understanding that I did not want to work in my field as a financier. I started with black-and-white ink and pen drawings. Now I am trying out different materials, techniques and styles. Participated in: — «Talent energy fest» 2015 — group exhibition «Nymph» 2016 — project «384 artists» Folk Ukraine 2016 — All-Ukrainian exhibition-competition of fine and decorative arts of the NAMU. 21-25.07. 2016 -rn«Gogolfest» 2016 and others. Works are held in collections in Ukraine, France, Spain, Austria, the USA, Australia and Russia.
