"Custom oil paintings" or why is it important for an artist to develop a personal brand? Part 1.

Pablo Picasso said: “An artist is a person who writes what he can sell. A good artist is a person who sells what he writes. ”
From this blog I want to start the cycle “Oil painting on order”. Often, this is the niche that the authors choose at the beginning of their careers, in the hope of somehow earning money from their work. And I would really like for even novice artists to see all the opportunities that the world gives them and use them skillfully.
How are things today?
It is quite difficult for a young artist to earn a “name”. In order for publications to publish information about him - you need a budget, which is nowhere to allocate. Galleries do not want to collaborate with beginners, because those are not yet known. It turns out such a vicious circle.
But I really want to earn money, so it enters the game online. And artists become their own agents. And also own marketing specialists, copywriters and targetologists. Yes, authors often have to do many things that have nothing to do with creativity. Indeed, to find his place in the world of art, only talent and zeal is not enough. You must first write the work, then put it somewhere, find buyers, pay taxes and drown in paper work in the end.
Where to take the first steps?
First of all, social networks come to mind. The advantages are obvious: there is no censorship, the artist’s page - his personal space and content can be absolutely any. You can post everything that inspires, that which you like and, of course, sell. But there is a minus - attracting an audience takes a lot of time, effort and, oddly enough, money. Growing organically is now much more difficult than a few years ago, and simply beautiful photos are no longer enough for users.
People buy from those they like and are close to. Therefore, if in the absence of publicity there was no big trouble before and it was possible to work for a narrow audience and clients who come on a recommendation, then now that the market is on the decline, audiences that can be attracted by word of mouth are increasingly narrow. Many really talented guys “write to the table” simply because creativity is like air for them. When I hear that the artist’s workshop is filled with finished works, but there are no sales, I’m sad.
And what is important for a person who wants to purchase or order a painting to decorate his interior or as a gift?
Emotions invested in the work, colors or techniques used in writing? In practice, the first thing that will help you and a potential buyer to meet is ease of search. If with a few queries you can be found on the network - you are already ahead of your competitors.
And we again return to building a personal brand. How this can be done using the Codeky.art platform - I will tell you in the next series of blogs. And if you have questions - write to me on social networks, I will be happy to answer them.

You are always, everywhere, in everything. As manifestation of life, as investigation and observation, as acceptance and transmission
